My Dying Bride is one of the most influential bands in the doom/death metal scene (and not only); may I say doom/death itself? Formed back in 1990 by Calvin, Aaron, Andy and Rick and having already released two demos ("Towards the sinister" and "God is alone") and an interesting EP ("Symphonaire Infernus et Spera Empyrium") they release during 1992 their long-awaited debut album "As the flower withers". Pure doom/death metal with death metal outbursts and Aaron being an utterly descriptive interpreter, inspiration, intense poetic lyrics with a sense of mourning romanticism and a dark wailing atmosphere consist of this wonderful debut album leaving behind a bitter taste of a dying bride, My Dying Bride…

'Where Angels Fall' is a female fronted Gothic Metal Band from Norway, formed in 2003. Where Angels Fall played togethe
r for almost two years prior to the release of this debut album. Their EP "Dies Irae" received good reviews in Norway and abroad. The band played at small and large venues like Rockefeller and the Quart festival in Norway and have a reputation as a good live band. The music can be described as groovy metal with elements of gothic, classical orchestrations and electronica. Melodic female vocals stand out as an opposite to the hard riffing. The sessions were recorded and co-produced by Bψrge Finstad at Toproom Studio (Mayhem, Arcturus, Tristania etc).

Too often,
some groups that have lasted as long as Sentenced has keep going just to make more money. With the release of The "Funeral Album", it is clear that Sentenced is not in the music business for the money. In fact, this album encompasses all of the elements from their previous three or four albums and even brings in a blast from their past. "The Funeral Album" is an everlasting memoir that brings just about everything that they have ever incorporated into their sound over the years. The album title lives up to its name in every way to a point that the funeral itself could be held with this album as its soundtrack. Funerals are not supposed to be just for mourning the dead; rather they are held to remember them for all of the accomplishments done while they existed and The "Funeral Album" doesn’t let us forget this lesson.

Entwine - Fatal Design [2006]
With the release of their 5th cd, the Finnish metal group Entwine takes a step forward in carving their own sound. On their latest record, "Fatal Design", the group has oriented towards more American-flavoured r
ock & metal sound. Songs on "Fatal Design" are pretty solid, though there's nothing ground-breaking about this record. There are a lot of borrowed sections on the songs, which makes the listener wonder where she/he had heard those before. Perhaps the biggest stumbling stone of this record is the overly steady quality of songs and their similar sonic characteristic, since it makes the listening experience somewhat grey. Production on "Fatal Design" has been handled skilfully as the sounds are fairly balanced, and the mastering has been done with taste. This might actually be the best Entwine record released thus far. "Fatal Design" should appeal to the fans of the group as well as some listeners of metal who prefer popular "easy listening" music.

One will be amazed at how unconventionally heavy this album really is. It even has a tendency to sap one's strength, upon repeated encounters. Judgement is truly a blinding masterpiece, which pierces the senses with its intensity.

Cathedral - Forest Of Equilibrium [1991]
Cathedral’s first full length album was released in 1991, and was received by doom fans as a revelation. It’s awesome heaviness tempered by a touch of melancholy melody through the addition of flutes and pianos.
Absolutely a timeless Doom Metal classic!
